What is a loop resistance test?
Also called a contact resistance or micro-ohmmeter test, it injects a regulated DC current through a closed contact path and measures the voltage drop, giving the resistance in micro-ohms. Rising resistance indicates contact wear, oxidation or loose joints.
Why is a high test current necessary?
A high current — 100 A on this model — is needed to break through surface oxide films and give a repeatable reading. Low-current measurements on breaker contacts often read falsely high.
What is tested with this instrument?
Circuit breaker main contacts, disconnector contacts, busbar joints and cable terminations, following the measurement approach referenced in IEC 62271-100 and GB/T 1984.
