Overview: reliable and effective connection between the grounding down conductor of electrical equipment and the grounding grid is the fundamental guarantee of safe equipment operation. The grounding down conductor is the connecting part between the equipment and the grounding grid. During long periods of operation the joint can be affected by damp and other factors, leading to corrosion or even fracture, which increases the resistance at the connection point between the down conductor and the main grounding grid. The installation then no longer meets the requirements of the power regulations and becomes a latent hazard, and in severe cases the equipment can end up operating without an effective ground. For this reason, 防止电力生产重大事故的二十五项重点要求 (Twenty-Five Key Requirements for Preventing Major Accidents in Power Production) explicitly states that the continuity check of grounding-device down conductors should be carried out once a year.
The GD230 ground continuity resistance tester is a highly automated portable instrument developed for measuring the continuity resistance between the grounding down conductors of the individual items of electrical equipment in a substation. Controlled by a high-performance single-chip microcomputer, it offers an intelligent test process, small size, easy portability, simple operation, high accuracy, fast testing, good repeatability and direct read-out, making it the ideal dedicated instrument for meeting the requirements of the regulations.
Key features: the whole instrument is controlled by a high-speed single-chip microcomputer, giving a high degree of automation and simple operation. A new power-supply technology provides multiple current ranges and a wide measuring range, and the test current is selected automatically according to the load. Protection functions are comprehensive and performance is reliable. Response is fast, readings are stable, and data is refreshed automatically during the test. Intelligent power management reduces internal heating and saves energy. A non-volatile clock and non-volatile memory retain data permanently, and a thermal printer provides high-speed, silent printing.
Safety measures: read the manual carefully before use. The instrument can be used indoors and outdoors, but keep it away from rain and corrosive gases. Avoid severe vibration. Repair, maintenance and adjustment must be carried out by qualified personnel. When a test is finished, always press the reset key and switch off the power before removing the test leads. Never move the test clamps or disconnect the supply circuit during a test.
