Overview: the system performs lightning impulse tests on distribution transformers, high-voltage switchgear, ring main units, pole-mounted switchgear, disconnectors, circuit breakers and instrument transformers (CT/PT).
Construction: the system samples with an oscilloscope and a voltage divider, and is composed of a test transformer, capacitors, wave-front resistors, wave-tail resistors, a sphere gap and a chopping device. Rated voltage is 400 kV and rated energy is 20 kJ.
Control: the sphere gap is adjusted automatically and charging is automatic, with standardised waveform editing. Data is uploaded to the data centre platform through the control terminal.
Test capability: the lightning impulse test covers distribution transformers at 2500 kVA/10 kV, and high-voltage switchgear, ring main units, pole-mounted switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors and instrument transformers (CT/PT) at 35 kV.
