GD6000A Variable Frequency Dielectric Loss (Tan Delta) Tester

Measures dielectric loss factor (tan delta) and capacitance to detect overall moisture, ageing and local defects in insulation. Applicable to transformers, instrument transformers, reactors, capacitors, bushings and surge arresters. Variable frequency excitation avoids mains-frequency interference on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a tan delta test detect?
The dielectric loss factor indicates how much energy the insulation dissipates. An increasing tan delta points to overall moisture ingress, thermal ageing or localised defects, which is why it is a standard insulation diagnosis method.
Why variable frequency?
Measuring at exactly mains frequency on a live substation is disturbed by power-frequency interference. A variable frequency source lets the instrument shift away from 50/60 Hz and its harmonics, giving a stable reading in the field.
Which equipment can be tested?
Transformers, instrument transformers, reactors, capacitors, bushings and surge arresters, following IEC 60250, GB/T 5654 and DL/T 474.
